FOOTNOTES (2013-2020)
At first glance, these artworks appear decorative, or abstract, yet the patterns all come from the depths of my clothes closet or from my bureau drawers. Each artwork begins with a note that documents an insecurity, or an indiscression, or something I feel anxious about. These notes, intentionally kept private, are then wrapped in a bundle of cloth. Some of these items I have made, even down to weaving the cloth, while others are replicas. some of them sit on raised pedestals, paited from their patterns and nearly evey one sits on a backdrop that has been hand painted with gouache on frosted Mylar. I have then photographed the results which nestles the notes even deeper in the work and renders them inpossible to read.
